Wi-Fi Alliance released a new certification for client devices operating only in 20 MHz channels that want to take advantage of Wi-Fi CERTIFIED 7 features. The new certification extends the benefits of Wi‑Fi 7 to a wider range of connected products in smart homes, industrial environments and healthcare settings. This new certification promotes Wi-Fi 7 adoption in the IoT market.

TÜV Rheinland has announced that it has become an authorised test lab (ATL) for Wi-Fi Alliance at a global level. The company is among the first ATLs in the world, so it can support customers in Wi-Fi Alliance certification across regions. (more…)

Wi-Fi Alliance is augmenting Wi-Fi CERTIFIED 6 testing protocols to support the regulatory authorisation process of 6 GHz standard power devices pursuant to recently published Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) guidance. Release of this new testing allows product vendors and service providers to verify that the 6 GHz standard power devices meet the technical requirements in Part 15, Subpart E of the FCC rules pertaining to operations under control of the Automated Frequency Coordination (AFC) system. The Wireless Innovation Forum (WInnForum) and Wi-Fi Alliance have jointly presented the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) with the complete package of specifications and test plans for the 6 GHz Automated Frequency Coordination (AFC) system. Delivery of this package is the culmination of a multiyear effort by both organisations to advance connectivity in the 6 GHz band representing consensus of the 6 GHz stakeholders including component and equipment manufacturers, AFC System applicants, network operators, incumbent and unlicensed operators, system integrators, software companies and many others. The Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA), the global industry body dedicated to driving the seamless and interoperable services experience of Wi-Fi across the global wireless ecosystem, has announced the publication of the “Wi-Fi HaLow for IoT: Japan Field Trials Report”. The report marks the completion of the WBA’s Wi-Fi HaLow Phase 3 field trials in Japan and validates Wi-Fi HaLow (IEEE 802.11ah) as a scalable, long-range connectivity solution for real-world IoT deployments. The Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA), the global industry body dedicated to driving the seamless and interoperable service experience of Wi-Fi across the global wireless ecosystem, has announced the results of Wi-Fi 7 industry trials in Enterprise Scenarios, conducted in collaboration with AT&T, CommScope (RUCKUS Networks) and Intel. The trials, designed to evaluate Wi-Fi 7’s real-world performance, demonstrated significant improvements in throughput, efficiency and latency, highlighting Wi-Fi 7’s ability to support mission-critical enterprise applications such as XR, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing and industrial Internet of Things (IoT).
