Morse Micro, a provider of Wi-Fi HaLow chips, has announced that its MM6108-EKH05–Light has officially received Matter certification from the Connectivity Standards Alliance. This certification marks a step for Wi-Fi HaLow technology, demonstrating seamless interoperability, security and ease of integration for smart home and Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

The LoRa Alliance, the global association of companies backing the open LoRaWAN standard for the internet of things (IoT) low-power wide-area networks (LPWANs), has announced that it will bring together its extensive LoRaWAN ecosystem as part of IoT Solutions World Congress (IOTSWC), taking place May 13–15, 2025, at Barcelona’s Gran Via Venue. Under the banner “Building Massive IoT with LoRaWAN,” the organisation will feature a day-long program dedicated to LoRaWAN on May 14. Beyond the stage talks, members will share insights about their success stories as part of several show floor talks, including those from 19 LoRa Alliance member companies who will demonstrate LoRaWAN in Action! in Hall 8 Stand D9.

The Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA), the global industry body dedicated to driving the seamless and interoperable service experience of Wi-Fi across the global wireless ecosystem, has today released a set of “L4S Implementation Guidelines” for Low Latency, Low Loss and Scalable (L4S) throughput over Wi-Fi networks. The guidelines demonstrate how demand for low-latency Wi-Fi applications such as cloud gaming, augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) can be achieved with an explanation of implementation approaches, Access Point (AP) tests and simulation studies for L4S AP performance in different scenarios.

The Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) has released an introductory report on 6G’s potential role titled, “6G – WBA Vision Statement.” The statement calls for greater collaboration between all stakeholders if 6G is to deliver on its promise, and details five key vision points for 6G, to achieve ubiquitous connectivity that comprises Wi-Fi, cellular, non-terrestrial networks, IoT LPWANs, and other wireless technologies at its core.

The Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) has released an updated “Operator Managed Wi-Fi (OMWi): Reference Architecture and Requirements” technical report. This update includes enhanced technical and operational requirements and introduces open-source, OMWi-compliant implementations from partners such as the prpl Foundation and RDK-B. Morse Micro has announced a live demonstration of Wi-Fi Certified HaLow technology, showcasing its ability to extend up to three kilometres (nearly two miles). The field test took place in San Francisco’s Ocean Beach neighbourhood and aimed to highlight the long-range capabilities of sub-GHz Wi-Fi HaLow signals in challenging real-world conditions. (more…)
