Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) has announced public release of Get Ready for Wi-Fi (wireless fidelity) 7: Applying new capabilities to the key use cases, a report that explores how this technology will change the way people worldwide live, work and play. Based on the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) 802.11be (extreme high throughput) standard, Wi-Fi 7 has a variety of advanced capabilities. Trusted Connectivity Alliance (TCA) has announced election of Bertrand Moussel (Valid) as chair of board for 2023-4. The organisation works to promote eSIM (embedded subscriber identity module) interoperability, advanced use of eSIM technology across upcoming IoT (internet of things) use-cases and support sustainable creation. Moussel has served on TCA’s board since 2016 and succeeds Claus Dietze (Giesecke+Devrient), who stepped down following three consecutive terms as chair. Dietze remains on board alongside Benoit Collier (IDEMIA), Christian Vignes (STMicroelectronics) and Stephane Quetglas (Thales). The re-election of Cyril Caillaud (NXP Semiconductors) and Jean-Philippe Betoin (Kigen) to the two rotating seats completes the board for 2023-4. (more…)

Iridium Communications Inc., announced that Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group (XCMG), will deploy Iridium IoT (internet of things) services on its global fleet of heavy equipment, starting with excavators and expanding to loaders and crane trucks as needed. XCMG will utilise Iridium’s global network to maintain critical connectivity with their heavy equipment in main locations including Australia, Southeast Asia, Latin America, Africa, and Central Asia. Baicells Technologies, has partnered with Tohono O’odham Utility Authority (TOUA) to bring access to advanced broadband connectivity and opportunity for tribal residents. The reservation boundary is approximately 30 miles west of Tucson, Arizona and extends south along the border with Mexico, Tohono O’odham nation of roughly 28,000 members, is spread across a number of remote villages where bringing access to broadband has always been a major challenge. Previously relying on basic Wi-Fi connectivity, in limited locations and with high Mbps speeds only in single digits, TOUA long recognised need to overhaul and upgrade their infrastructure and so built out their network plan.
