Iridium Communications Inc., announced that Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group (XCMG), will deploy Iridium IoT (internet of things) services on its global fleet of heavy equipment, starting with excavators and expanding to loaders and crane trucks as needed. CEVA’s Bluetooth 5.4 IP gains SIG qualification with new features for ESL market

CEVA, Inc. has announced that its rivierawaves bluetooth 5.4 platform is SIG (special interest group) qualified and already licensed to several customers, including to those addressing electronic shelf label (ESL) market. Global technology intelligence firm ABI Research forecasts that ESL (electronic shelf label) market will grow from nearly 185 million annual shipments in 2022 to nearly 560 million units by 2027, with bluetooth-enabled ESLs accounting for a growing portion of overall market. Baicells, Tohono O’odham Utility Authority partner to deliver LTE connectivity to residents

Baicells Technologies, has partnered with Tohono O’odham Utility Authority (TOUA) to bring access to advanced broadband connectivity and opportunity for tribal residents. The reservation boundary is approximately 30 miles west of Tucson, Arizona and extends south along the border with Mexico, Tohono O’odham nation of roughly 28,000 members, is spread across a number of remote villages where bringing access to broadband has always been a major challenge. Previously relying on basic Wi-Fi connectivity, in limited locations and with high Mbps speeds only in single digits, TOUA long recognised need to overhaul and upgrade their infrastructure and so built out their network plan. USDA grants AIRRAQ broadband fibre project to three more rural Alaska communities

GCI announced that it has been granted $35 million (€32.40 million) from US Department of Agriculture Rural Development’s ReConnect programme to bring fibre-optic connectivity to Toksook BayEmmonak, and Tununak. Connectivity will be delivered to three communities through an expansion of AIRRAQ network, a joint GCI-Bethel Native Corporation (BNC) project to deliver high-speed broadband service to communities in Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta. Biden-Harris Administration announces $3.5mn funding in internet for all grants to tribal lands

National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) announced that it has awarded seven grants totaling nearly $3.5 million (3.22 million) to seven Tribal entities as part of Tribal Broadband Connectivity Program (TBCP). With funding from Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, these recent grants bring total of program to more than $1.79 billion (1.65 billion) awarded to 198 Tribal entities. Record investments in high-speed internet deployment are an important part of president Biden’s investing in America agenda. (more…)
