IoT Services

IoT places important challenges to distributed systems, since it requires very large amounts of computing power and storage as well as massive scalability.

Devices and sensors generate streams of data across a diversity of locations and protocols. The data usually reach a central platform that is used to store and process the streams. Processing can be done in real time, with transformations and enrichment happening on-the-fly, but it can also happen after data is stored and organized in repositories. In the former case, stream processing technologies are required to operate on the data; in the latter batch analytics and queries are of common use

  • We have developed our FIOT online platform for processing data from the smart city. The platform allows indexing and data storage and processing in real time.
  • Implementation of other scalable platforms to perform stream-based analytics.
  • Analysis of architecture real-time processing runtimes to allow multi-tenant computation and data-sharing between tenants.
  • Architectures based on Pub/Sub strategies to allow dynamic data-subscription strategies in centralized and distributed physical topologies (Cloud and Fog architectures).
  • Special Sensors (Electronic Tongue): Acquisition of values-based sensors designed for specific tasks and later use across different platforms (use of IoT communication protocols standards COAP, MQTT, XMPP, etc.)
