The project will deploy smart columns to boost mobile connectivity, improve council services and enhance public safety and has been awarded £250,000 (€288057.50) of funding by the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT). Trusted Connectivity Alliance (TCA) has announced election of Bertrand Moussel (Valid) as chair of board for 2023-4. The organisation works to promote eSIM (embedded subscriber identity module) interoperability, advanced use of eSIM technology across upcoming IoT (internet of things) use-cases and support sustainable creation. Moussel has served on TCA’s board since 2016 and succeeds Claus Dietze (Giesecke+Devrient), who stepped down following three consecutive terms as chair. Dietze remains on board alongside Benoit Collier (IDEMIA), Christian Vignes (STMicroelectronics) and Stephane Quetglas (Thales). The re-election of Cyril Caillaud (NXP Semiconductors) and Jean-Philippe Betoin (Kigen) to the two rotating seats completes the board for 2023-4. (more…)

Airties and Domos, has announced an alliance to provide enhanced latency management capabilities to broadband service providers around world. Airties and Domos will jointly own latency monitoring software module, based on Domos’ existing module, and will be embedded into Airties smart Wi-Fi (wireless fidelity) software. Additionally, Domos will gain access to Airties’ customer base to expand distribution of its network X-ray agent through integration with Airties smart Wi-Fi solutions. NTT DATA, announced that it has partnered with North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to implement smart traffic solution to mitigate wrong way driving incidents. Optical sensors will be positioned across 12 main North Carolina state highways and connected to NTT’s smart management platform to acquire relevant data regarding wrong way driving events, as well as assess highway conditions. CEVA, Inc. has announced that its rivierawaves bluetooth 5.4 platform is SIG (special interest group) qualified and already licensed to several customers, including to those addressing electronic shelf label (ESL) market. Global technology intelligence firm ABI Research forecasts that ESL (electronic shelf label) market will grow from nearly 185 million annual shipments in 2022 to nearly 560 million units by 2027, with bluetooth-enabled ESLs accounting for a growing portion of overall market. GCI announced that it has been granted $35 million (€32.40 million) from US Department of Agriculture Rural Development’s ReConnect programme to bring fibre-optic connectivity to Toksook Bay, Emmonak, and Tununak. Connectivity will be delivered to three communities through an expansion of AIRRAQ network, a joint GCI-Bethel Native Corporation (BNC) project to deliver high-speed broadband service to communities in Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta.
