LoRa Alliance brings LoRaWAN to IoT Solutions World Congress

The LoRa Alliance, the global association of companies backing the open LoRaWAN standard for the internet of things (IoT) low-power wide-area networks (LPWANs), has announced that it will bring together its extensive LoRaWAN ecosystem as part of IoT Solutions World Congress (IOTSWC), taking place May 13–15, 2025, at Barcelona’s Gran Via Venue. Under the banner “Building Massive IoT with LoRaWAN,” the organisation will feature a day-long program dedicated to LoRaWAN on May 14. Beyond the stage talks, members will share insights about their success stories as part of several show floor talks, including those from 19 LoRa Alliance member companies who will demonstrate LoRaWAN in Action! in Hall 8 Stand D9.

WBA L4S implementation guide drives business benefits of low latency, low loss, scalable Wi-Fi networks

The Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA), the global industry body dedicated to driving the seamless and interoperable service experience of Wi-Fi across the global wireless ecosystem, has today released a set of “L4S Implementation Guidelines” for Low Latency, Low Loss and Scalable (L4S) throughput over Wi-Fi networks. The guidelines demonstrate how demand for low-latency Wi-Fi applications such as cloud gaming, augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) can be achieved with an explanation of implementation approaches, Access Point (AP) tests and simulation studies for L4S AP performance in different scenarios.

Alliance 6G vision urges industry collaboration for ubiquitous connectivity

The Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) has released an introductory report on 6G’s potential role titled, “6G – WBA Vision Statement.” The statement calls for greater collaboration between all stakeholders if 6G is to deliver on its promise, and details five key vision points for 6G, to achieve ubiquitous connectivity that comprises Wi-Fi, cellular, non-terrestrial networks, IoT LPWANs, and other wireless technologies at its core.

WBA updates OMWi framework to streamline residential Wi-Fi management

The Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) has released an updated “Operator Managed Wi-Fi (OMWi): Reference Architecture and Requirements” technical report.  This update includes enhanced technical and operational requirements and introduces open-source, OMWi-compliant implementations from partners such as the prpl Foundation and RDK-B.  It delivers a comprehensive framework for deploying and managing residential Wi-Fi, addressing global operator needs through the integration of key standards and open-source platforms.  (more…)

Successful field test extends Wi-Fi HaLow signals over challenging terrain

Morse Micro has announced a live demonstration of Wi-Fi Certified HaLow technology, showcasing its ability to extend up to three kilometres (nearly two miles). Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) has announced public release of Get Ready for Wi-Fi (wireless fidelity) 7: Applying new capabilities to the key use cases, a report that explores how this technology will change the way people worldwide live, work and play. Based on the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) 802.11be (extreme high throughput) standard, Wi-Fi 7 has a variety of advanced capabilities. WBA releases new standardised technical framework for operator-managed Wi-Fi for in-home networks
