When something is invisible, exercise caution and do all you can to reveal it and render it harmless. That’s the lesson the human race has learned from infectious micro-organisms—in many cases, the hard way. In enterprises today, writes Rob Greer, the chief marketing officer and senior vice president of products at ForeScout Technologies, where devices are constantly gaining access to networks sight unseen, fear of the invisible is certainly justifiable. Nokia Networks and Oi Brasil are to set up an LTE IoT lab and create a working group to study solutions and opportunities in IoT, develop joint projects and test innovative solutions. The investments in innovation will be supported by a fund that will finance projects within IoT verticals such as agribusiness, connected cars, homes and smart cities and e-health. (more…)

The 2026 winners role-call spans specialists from device-level silicon and connectivity architecture to industrial data infrastructure and operator-scale ecosystem development.
No less than three of the eight winning entries directly address the SIM. Altair Semiconductor’s award highlights a live consumer iSIM deployment in Japan delivered with MIXI and JENESIS, Proximus Global’s focuses on sovereign eSIM provisioning and KORE’s recognises multi-network SIM and connectivity management for connected health.
This concentration reflects a broader market maturation where the form and governance of the SIM has transformed from a mere procurement choice into a foundational design decision, a shift IoT Now has closely examined in its coverage of why the industry needs iSIM and connectivity orchestration.
The remaining categories were captured by standout deployments in industrial data infrastructure, fleet telematics, data compression and analytics, network-scale IoT security and ecosystem development.

Open source hardware developer Seeed Studio has released two new wireless development boards designed for a wide range of battery-powered IoT applications including wearables, smart home, industrial IoT and smart sensing. Both the ‘XIAO nRF54LM20A Sense’ and ‘XIAO nRF54LM20A’ development boards are powered by Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF54LM20A SoC, and integrate its nPM1300 Power Management IC (PMIC). The XIAO nRF54LM20A Sense also includes a 6-axis IMU and a digital microphone, allowing developers to prototype voice, audio, motion and gesture applications without additional hardware.

Entries are to be submitted via the official IoT Global Awards site and the shortlist of entries will be announced on Wednesday 16th September. The winners will be announced on Wednesday 7th October.

Netmore Group, the network operator and platform provider for Massive IoT, has announced a collaboration with Aarhus Vand and Kamstrup to support the deployment of approximately 69,000 digitally connected water meters across Aarhus Municipality, Denmark. Powered by Netmore’s carrier-grade LoRaWAN network and Kamstrup’s digital water metering technology, the project will provide Aarhus Vand with real-time visibility into water consumption while helping residents better understand and reduce their water usage.
