Open source hardware developer Seeed Studio has released two new wireless development boards designed for a wide range of battery-powered IoT applications including wearables, smart home, industrial IoT and smart sensing. Both the ‘XIAO nRF54LM20A Sense’ and ‘XIAO nRF54LM20A’ development boards are powered by Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF54LM20A SoC, and integrate its nPM1300 Power Management IC (PMIC). The XIAO nRF54LM20A Sense also includes a 6-axis IMU and a digital microphone, allowing developers to prototype voice, audio, motion and gesture applications without additional hardware.

Trimble has announced the acquisition of Terasat Japan, a virtual reference station (VRS) service provider in the Japanese market. The acquisition allows Trimble to now directly offer its VRS correction service in Japan, providing incremental coverage for real-time, centimetre-level positioning for the geospatial, construction, automotive and agriculture industries. By providing a high-precision positioning foundation across Japan’s infrastructure, Trimble bridges the connection between digital models and the physical world. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Entries are to be submitted via the official IoT Global Awards site and the shortlist of entries will be announced on Wednesday 16^th September. The winners will be announced on Wednesday 7^th October.

GigaDevice, a semiconductor company specialising in Flash memory, 32-bit microcontrollers (MCUs), sensors and analogue products, has officially joined the Zephyr Project, one of the world’s open-source real-time operating systems (RTOS). Hosted by the Linux Foundation, the Zephyr Project welcomes GigaDevice as a Silver Member, making GigaDevice a dual Silver Member of both the Zephyr Project and the Linux Foundation. Using its comprehensive GD32 MCU portfolio, GigaDevice will actively participate in the Zephyr community, promoting deeper integration between its MCU technologies and the global open-source RTOS ecosystem. This will provide customers and developers in industrial, IoT, consumer electronics and other fields with a more open, standardised and efficient embedded development environment, while continuing to contribute to the growth of the global embedded open ecosystem and broader access to technology.

DigitalBridge, a global alternative asset manager dedicated to investing in digital infrastructure, has announced that a DigitalBridge-managed investment vehicle has entered into an agreement to acquire PLUS ES, one of Australia’s largest smart meter providers. PLUS ES is a separate ring-fenced entity within the Ausgrid Group. PLUS ES provides infrastructure and services that connect retailers, utilities and network operators with the data needed to manage a complex energy ecosystem.
