Emergent Connext and Microsoft to deliver IoT connectivity for agriculture and rural communities in California’s Central Valley

Emergent Connext, Inc. has announced a collaboration with Microsoft to build out a rural Internet of Things (IoT) network that extends reliable connectivity across thousands of square miles of unconnected farmland in rural California. Emergent will work with Microsoft’s Airband program and their ISP partner Cal.net to provide access to reliable connectivity to drive Smart Farming and IoT adoption across the region’s farming communities.

In January, the GSMA, the global organisation unifying the mobile ecosystem, introduced a new industry-wide technical specification called SGP.32 v1.2, together with test, compliance and security specifications to ensure eSIM Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, used within IoT products, are secure and interoperable when interacting with communications networks and service platforms around the world. The GSMA has now included certification of this specification as part of its GSMA eUICC Security Assurance scheme and eSIM Compliance program, ensuring eSIM IoT products comply with stringent security and interoperability requirements, alongside already established consumer and machine-to-machine eSIM product certification. Borqs Technologies completed cash sale of core businesses to Sasken Technologies of India

Borqs Technologies, Inc. has announced that it has completed the sale of its core businesses to Sasken Technologies, Ltd., a global product engineering and digital transformation services company based in India. Included in the sale were all of the Company’s embedded software design and customised hardware manufacturing of products for the Internet of Things (IoT) activities. Price for the sale totalled US$40 million, a portion will be reserved for employees, tax withholding and payments subject to an earnout arrangement linked to performance in the year 2025.
