Among the various technological solutions that are being developed to immediately detect COVID-19 and its lung conditions, the Apolo D Smartcheck AI stands out, cabins that can be installed in public and private places to perform chest x-rays with a professional who will evaluate the results at a distance and so you can analyse the progress that the patient’s lung condition is having.

The installation of this equipment will contribute, on the one hand, to the identification of traces of pulmonary infections characteristic of COVID-19 contamination and to decompress the sanitary system, in case of outbreak. The distribution of this product in Spain and Portugal is managed by Orcrom Seguridad, a company belonging to the Global Detection Group.

After the pandemic and the health and economic crisis resulting from COVID-19, technological development is becoming crucial for society and the healthcare service. Now more than ever. In this context, the company Orcrom Seguridad, a business unit of the Global Detection Group, distributes an absolutely disruptive product for all of Europe: the Apolo D Smartcheck AI cabins, which will allow professionally controlled chest radiographs to be taken remotely for the entire population in cabins installable in public and private places. This cavins will become a solution for the detection of COVID-19 and to contribute to the decompression of the health system. This will allow up to 400 radiographic examinations per day.

“The Apollo D SmartCheck AI Rapid Classification System was developed for mass X-ray examination of the chest, using Artificial Intelligence to quickly and effectively identify traces of lung infections characteristic of COVID-19 contamination. The use of the application enhances the advantages of this disruptive solution,” explains Jesus Condom Bayarri, founder and CEO of Global Detection Group, and promoter of the commercialization for Europe of this product.

This development -carried out by VMI Security & Medica- will, on one hand, reduce the overload in hospitals and health centers. On the other hand, will help in the rapid detection of lethal pneumonia in affected people, and also identify new outbreaks and spread of the virus to improve the protection of health professionals.

How the Apollo D Smartcheck AI works

Apollo D Smartcheck AI: artificial intelligence and X-ray scanner integration

Thanks to a high-resolution digital detector and its integration with AI (Artificial Intelligence), the machine points abnormalities related to lung infection (pneumonia) through a heat map that shows the amount of the affected lung.

Quick installation and automatic disinfection

The equipment requires reduced space installation (3.0 x 3.0 m) and can be implemented in public places with easy access, such as parks, avenues, field hospitals, etc. The X-ray machine and cab move on wheels, so there is no need to fix it to the floor or wall, and another added advantage is that the walls and frame of the equipment are easily removable to facilitate transport to places of interest for public management.

“Furthermore,” says Jesus C. Bayarri-, “this equipment and the software developed based on AI, stand out for their low operating costs and for having an automatic, fast and efficient disinfection system for UV lamps, which guarantees safety in its use.”

Simple diagnosis with a remote professional

With a high-resolution digital detector, the Apolo D Smartcheck AI system allows image capture in just 5 seconds. Also, with artificial intelligence integration it helps in results formulation, where the same machine scores signs of lung infection in up to 20 seconds. This result is immediately sent to the team responsible of patient’s triage.
