The WAAS (Wide Area Augmentation System) is an air navigation aid developed by the Federal Aviation Administration to augment the Global Positioning System (GPS). The goal is to improve its accuracy, integrity, and availability. WAAS is based on a network of approximately 25 ground reference stations that covers a very large service area.
