Vodafone has signed a services agreement to provide 4G connectivity for Britain’s smart meter network. The partnership between Vodafone and DCC (Data Communications Company) is an agreement for up to 15 years to build and operate 4G managed IoT (internet of things) connectivity for Britain’s smart meter network, which securely connects more than half of homes to energy suppliers and operators and is managed and run by DCC. Infineon Technologies AG is now taking a further, decisive step to shape this market: By expanding its Kulim fab over and above the original investment announced in February 2022, Infineon will build 200-millimeter SiC (silicon carbide) Power Fab. The planned expansion is backed by customer commitments covering about five billion euros of new design-wins in automotive and industrial applications as well as about one billion euros in pre-payments.
