Private 5G networks are all the rage. At Mobile World Congress last month, IBM and Nokia joined hands to kick off the development of a “seamless, simplified private” 5G managed service offering, while Cisco and NTT announced a collaboration to bring their private 5G services to enterprise customers in selected sectors, says Udo Schneider, IoT security evangelist, Trend Micro.

Espoo, Finland – Nokia has announced it will deploy private wireless connectivity, network edge equipment and analytics for The Ocean Cleanup, an international non-profit project working to develop and scale technologies to rid the world’s oceans of plastic. Semtech Corporation, a semiconductor, IoT systems and service provider, has announced that Asaf Silberstein has been promoted to the newly created role of chief operating officer (COO) from his previous position of executive vice president, worldwide operations and information technology. Silberstein will report directly to Semtech’s president and chief executive officer, Mohan Maheswaran. Continental will be collaborating with Infineon Technologies AG in the development of server-based vehicle architectures. The goal is an organised electrics/electronics (E/E) architecture with central high-performance computers (HPC) and a few, powerful zone control units (ZCU) instead of up to a hundred or even more individual control units, as it was previously the case.
