Conference-led event Intelligent Manufacturing Kuala Lumpur (IMKL) 2025 takes place next week at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, from 14 – 16 May. The event’s central two-day conference will bring together industry experts, business leaders, academics and policymakers to address strategies for strengthening the digital preparedness of ASEAN manufacturers. Under the theme ‘Synergising technologies and workforce adoption for operational success,’ discussions will range from factory-level applications to broader improvements across the region’s manufacturing supply chain. Beyond the conference sessions, participants will discover the latest manufacturing technologies in the product showcase area and Tech Lab, while networking with experts from across the sector. Adding to these opportunities, the new SPS Stage Kuala Lumpur pavilion will connect ASEAN manufacturers to the global SPS network, which includes the brand’s flagship SPS – Smart Production Solutions exhibition in Germany alongside regional events in China, Italy, the United States and Thailand.

In January, the GSMA, the global organisation unifying the mobile ecosystem, introduced a new industry-wide technical specification called SGP.32 v1.2, together with test, compliance and security specifications to ensure eSIM Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, used within IoT products, are secure and interoperable when interacting with communications networks and service platforms around the world. The GSMA has now included certification of this specification as part of its GSMA eUICC Security Assurance scheme and eSIM Compliance program, ensuring eSIM IoT products comply with stringent security and interoperability requirements, alongside already established consumer and machine-to-machine eSIM product certification. DZS and AXON Networks have announced the acquisition of DZS’ Service Assurance and WiFi Management software portfolio by AXON Networks. The all-cash, US$34 million transaction transfers all CloudCheck, Expresse and TruSpeed assets and IP patents to AXON, along with a skilled development team and long-time marquee customers. These products will be integrated into AXON’s Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) portfolio, while DZS will focus its development and go-to-market strategy on its Networking, Connectivity and Cloud Edge portfolio. Nair brings more than two decades of experience in business development, sales and leadership for global companies. Most recently, Nair served as the managing director and general manager for global IoT sales for Cisco, a worldwide software, networking, security, computing and technology company. There, he led strategy on Cisco’s internet of things (IoT) solutions, experience he will draw on to take Surgere into a new era.
