Umo to bring contactless fare technology to Sault Ste. Marie

San Diego, 23 August 2022 – Umo is coming to Sault Ste. Marie in Ontario, Canada, improving convenience and access to public transit by embracing contactless fare technology. Umo will facilitate fare payments with smart cards and mobile devices, including multi-ride tickets and passes that are securely validated using QR code technology. Although this technology is usually too expensive and complex for smaller transit operators to implement, Umo’s scalable platform approach makes it easy and affordable to optimise transportation for everyone.

Milwaukee County Transit System to modernise fare collection system

Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS) announced that it has chosen the Umo Mobility Platform by Cubic Transportation Systems as its new fare collection system following a competitive process that began last May. Umo (pronounced YOU-mo) is a national fare collection system that will connect MCTS riders to not only its bus services but to other forms of transit across the region as well. The new fare collection system is expected to launch in fall of 2022.
