Redmond, United States – Microsoft Corp., and Viasat have announced a partnership to help deliver internet access to 10 million under-served people around the globe, including 5 million across Africa. Viasat, a global communications company, is the initial satellite partner to work with Microsoft’s Airband Initiative, and together they will deepen Airband’s work in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nigeria, Guatemala, Mexico, and the United States, as well as prioritise expanding the program to Egypt, Senegal and Angola to deliver much-needed internet connection, often for the first time. Herndon, Va., 13 December 2022 – ST Engineering iDirect, a global provider satellite communications, has announced that its longstanding partner, the Bolivian Space Agency (ABE), a public company of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, has upgraded its satellite ground network underscoring its future business strategy. ABE, operator of the Tupac Katari 1 satellite (TKSAT-1), expects the network upgrade to increase its cellular backhaul (CBH) service by at least 500 sites in both Ku and Ka-bands and to support the deployment of additional services, including enterprise and IoT, to increase revenue in line with their strategic ambitions.
