Emergent Connext and Microsoft to deliver IoT connectivity for agriculture and rural communities in California’s Central Valley

Emergent Connext, Inc. has announced a collaboration with Microsoft to build out a rural Internet of Things (IoT) network that extends reliable connectivity across thousands of square miles of unconnected farmland in rural California. Emergent will work with Microsoft’s Airband program and their ISP partner Cal.net to provide access to reliable connectivity to drive Smart Farming and IoT adoption across the region’s farming communities.

Semtech expands Anterix-compatible solutions for utility infrastructure

Semtech Corporation, a high-performance semiconductor, Internet of Things (IoT) systems and cloud connectivity service provider, has announced a key enhancement to its AirLink router portfolio with additional support for Anterix spectrum. Anterix, Inc. is one of the largest holder of licensed spectrum in the 900 MHz band (896-901/935-940 MHz) throughout the United States, including Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico. Central to this collaboration between Semtech and Anterix is the integration of the newly standardised Band 106 private LTE band into the ultra-rugged AirLink XR60 5G router tailored to the mission-critical needs of the energy and utility sectors.

Alliance 6G vision urges industry collaboration for ubiquitous connectivity

The Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA) has released an introductory report on 6G’s potential role titled, “6G – WBA Vision Statement.” The statement calls for greater collaboration between all stakeholders if 6G is to deliver on its promise, and details five key vision points for 6G, to achieve ubiquitous connectivity that comprises Wi-Fi, cellular, non-terrestrial networks, IoT LPWANs, and other wireless technologies at its core.

WBA updates OMWi framework to streamline residential Wi-Fi management

PGE Dystrybucja partners with Ericsson to modernise Poland’s energy grid

PGE Dystrybucja, the Polish distribution system operator, is aiming to modernise Poland’s energy infrastructure, ensuring more stable energy supplies, faster service delivery and enhanced reliability in the energy industry. According to a new agreement with Ericsson, the LTE450 network for the energy sector will utilise Ericsson’s state-of-the-art outdoor cabinets across 510 radio sites, each providing an impressive 36-hour backup using smart lithium batteries.

The LTE450 network for the energy sector will facilitate real-time access to data from millions of connected IoT devices, offering reliable broadband services for grid management and enabling integration of renewable energy. Additionally, it will provide essential communication capabilities for incident management.
