ST Engineering iDirect helps to boost Bolivian backhaul for future growth with Mx-DMA MRC waveform

Herndon, Va., 13 December 2022 – ST Engineering iDirect, a global provider satellite communications, has announced that its longstanding partner, the Bolivian Space Agency (ABE), a public company of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, has upgraded its satellite ground network underscoring its future business strategy. ABE, operator of the Tupac Katari 1 satellite (TKSAT-1), expects the network upgrade to increase its cellular backhaul (CBH) service by at least 500 sites in both Ku and Ka-bands and to support the deployment of additional services, including enterprise and IoT, to increase revenue in line with their strategic ambitions. Astrocast, Avirtech partner to enable data-driven smart farming in remote areas

Lausanne, Switzerland and Singapore – Astrocast, a global nanosatellite IoT network operator, and Avirtech, a provider of plantation control systems that monitor site conditions to reduce operational costs and increase yields, announce a smart farming partnership. Astrocast is providing Avirtech with Satellite IoT (SatIoT) connectivity solutions for its BIOTA intelligent farm control system. New ETSI telemetry standard improves automation for better end-user quality of experience

As the scale and services offered through the optical access networks increase, it is crucial to maintain network good operation and performance. To achieve this, the optical access network monitoring can be improved when compared to existing traditional methods via automated real-time data collection. Telemetry enables this and transmits data from the optical line terminal (OLT) i.e., the device at the endpoint of a passive optical network in real-time to provide information to the data collection platform. LoRa Alliance widens certification program, adds SCHC over LoRaWAN testing

The LoRa Alliance, the global association of companies backing the open LoRaWAN standard for Internet of Things (IoT) low-power wide-area networks (LPWANs) has announced that LoRaWAN certification is now available for end-devices using static context header compression (SCHC). Certification is based on the LoRa Alliance technical specifications for IPv6 published last May, which enable the deployment of IPv6 over LoRaWAN solutions. (more…)

Ciena acquires Benu Networks, outlines intention to pick up Tibit Communications

Ciena Corporation, a networking systems, services and software company has announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Tibit Communications, Inc., a privately-held company headquartered in Petaluma, California, and that it has acquired Benu Networks, Inc., a privately-held company headquartered in Burlington, Massachusetts.
