Orange is to invest in a new Low Power Wide Area (LPWA) network to support IoT in addition to its cellular network in metropolitan France. LPWA is a narrow-band technology that guarantees connectivity at a reduced energy consumption rate and at a lower cost. (more…)

In general, though, these solutions are essentially unique to each individual supplier and often built with relatively small numbers of connected devices in mind – perhaps a few tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands at most for a single enterprise user. PCCW Global recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Beijing Guodian High-Tech Technology (GDHT), a satellite IoT company in mainland China, during the 10th Belt and Road Summit held in Hong Kong. The collaboration aims to jointly build satellite-based narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT) services for Hong Kong, Macao and Belt and Road regions.

Quectel Wireless Solutions, a global IoT solutions provider, has introduced four new additions to its comprehensive range of global navigation satellite system (GNSS) antennas. The new antennas include the YFGD000AA high precision, low profile antenna which covers all GNSS bands, the YFGD000BA, optimised for triple-band solutions in GNSS L1, L2 and L5 bands, the YFGN000H1AC high precision, lightweight antenna that again covers all GNSS bands, and the YEGT010W1AM, designed for general-purpose reception in non-precision applications.

The LoRa Alliance, the global association of companies backing the open LoRaWAN standard for the internet of things (IoT) low-power wide-area networks (LPWANs), has announced that the Electronic Communications Committee (ECC) of the European Conference of Postal and Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT) has officially approved the Decision ECC DEC(25)02, confirming the regulatory framework enabling satellite-to-low power device communication with satellites (LPD-S) communications within the short-range device (SRD) 862-870MHz frequency band in Europe. This landmark decision, finalized during the ECC’s June meeting, marks a significant advancement in enabling satellite-based LPWAN IoT solutions, particularly LoRaWAN, across Europe.
