Low power IoT service revenues to exceed $2.6bn by 2024, as operators seek new revenue streams

A new study from Juniper Research found that service revenues from low power IoT technologies will exceed $2.6 billion (2.3 billion) by 2024; rising from only $290 million (263 million) in 2019, a growth of 800% over the next 5 years. Low power IoT technologies include low-priced wireless connections that deliver low bandwidth and power saving features suited to asset monitoring. (more…)

Sigfox partners with Alps Alpine to boost innovation in IoT market

Verizon tells IoT Now how it plans to roll out the PenLight smart grid in Washington State

As we reported earlier this month, Verizon has been chosen to update Washington State’s Peninsula Light Company (PenLight) power distribution system with Verizon’s Grid Wide Utility Services Intelligent Energy platform. Electricity meters equipped with Verizon cellular connectivity will replace end-of-life meters in the homes and businesses of more than 33,000 PenLight members. (more…)
