There is no escaping the digital revolution, prompting businesses everywhere to revamp their business plans to accommodate this change. Business either have to create a business of the future or remain in the past and get left behind.

The former requires businesses to welcome machine learning, embrace artificial intelligence and believe in the gig economy. In doing so businesses can remain competitive and propel their business into the future!

Welcome machine learning

Machine Learning is the slogan of the 21st century workforce.  It has opened up a new realm, with self-driving cars being a soon to be reality, rather than something we see in blockbuster Sci-Fi films. Computers can now foresee what task an individual is trying to do and perform the task without being programmed, which is great news for businesses as this will save employees time and boost productivity, says Richard Dennys, CEO of Webgains.

The future of Machine Learning is a future where businesses will be able to forecast customer needs just by analysing their behavioural history. Imagine what the future can hold for your business if you embrace machine learning and automation? To be a business of the future, businesses need to have and utilise the technology of the future.

Embrace artificial intelligence

The last few years has also seen extraordinary development and implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI). AI can complete the mundane and tedious tasks that humans so greatly loath much more efficiently and effectively, allowing businesses to focus their energies elsewhere and empower businesses of the future to make sense of huge data volumes to transform their service offering.

For affiliate marketers, AI allows them to quickly comprehend data patterns and historic activity to make unbelievably precise predictions of customer demand. In fact, we have witnessed first-hand the benefits AI in supporting advertisers, account managers and digital marketing execs to be more efficient and make more intelligent decisions.

Thanks to our partnership with IBM we have been able to create an artificial intelligence and machine learning solution that will optimise the digital advertising channel, giving clients, publishers and staff more flexibility.

Hence, the capabilities of AI are endless not just for affiliate marketers but all business professionals – from being able to process huge amounts of data in the blink of an eye, to analysing online behaviour – the future of AI is being billed as both terrifying and thrilling.

Businesses need to keep up with developments such as AI, to stay ahead of the game and competitors who are confined to the ‘old ways’ of doing things. However, businesses must remember that the technology is only as good as the people behind it, so train your staff, making certain that they make the best use of AI as only then can you unlock its potential.

Believe in the gig economy

Businesses who embrace the gig economy and leverage the talent it holds, can increase their talent pool. Not only can businesses have a fleet of talented full time, but gig economy workers can be at their disposal also. By offering a mixture of employment opportunities, businesses can ensure that they can attract the best talent needed to survive into the future.

An added consequence of embracing the gig economy is that there is a high possibility that the increased influx of young people joining the workforce can motivate businesses to alter how they operate. The younger generation is more likely to adapt to the benefits of being a gig economy worker, and so will be drawn to businesses that encourage this form of employment.

Becoming a business of the future isn’t simply about having the latest gadgets and gizmos but about accepting and being open to change.
