The federal telecommunications commission in Mexico (COFETEL) is an independent organ of the Mexican secretary of communication and transport established in 1995. The agency is directly responsible for regulating interstate and international telecommunications by radio, wire, satellite and cable. COFETEL's jurisdiction covers the entire country of Mexico.
