FIWARE Global Summit – an open source event for business, policy and technology, organised by FIWARE Foundation and University Mohammed VI Polytechnic in Morocco, will take place for the first time ever in Moroccan capital Rabat on 22-23 May 2025, highlighting the potential of smart and sustainable territories beyond Europe. The Federal Communications Commission and US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) announced partnership to promote awareness of Affordable Connectivity Programme (ACP) among federal housing assistance recipients. HUD secretary Marcia L. Fudge announced partnership while engaging with community members and touring a recently built computer lab at Yesler Terrace in Seattle,Washington. The partnership agreement reflects HUD’s commitment to increase outreach activities, alongside work both agencies are doing to decrease time it takes for recipients of HUD assistance to sign up for programme. The partnership monitors work that commission is doing to coordinate with other federal agencies to ensure that low-income households participating in eligible federal assistance programmmes are provided information about ACP, including how to enroll in programme. Starting this week, FCC and HUD will partner on ACP outreach targeted toward recipients of HUD assistance. (more…)

Leveraging and combining the strengths of both IoT and AI, cognitive IoT is considered by many to be the pinnacle of digital transformation technologies. Businesses are clamouring for a piece of the pie, with manufacturers expanding their investment in cognitive IoT from just $29 billion in 2019 to $70 billion in 2020. Even the leading global IT giant, IBM, has committed $3 billion to the development of its cognitive IoT endeavours.

Redlands, United States – In 1990, the government of Malta formed the Malta Information Technology Agency (MITA) with a mission to manage the implementation of public IT programs; since then, the agency has sought to increase the digital transformation of the country’s government service delivery infrastructure. To support this goal, MITA has signed an enterprise agreement with Esri, the global provider in location intelligence, to specifically enhance MITA’s geographic information system (GIS) capabilities. The three-year agreement will provide Esri software, professional services, and technical support to MITA and 22 other agencies across the Maltese government. (more…)
