18 November, 2021 –The Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), an organisation with over 400 companies working together to simplify and harmonise the Internet of Things (IoT) through technology standards, and Infineon Technologies AG, a world specialist in semiconductor solutions, announced Infineon will be joining the Alliance’s board of directors as a promoter member. Infineon will be represented on CSA’s board of directors by Skip Ashton, a longtime champion of standards in IoT having served in leadership roles with the Zigbee Alliance and Thread Group, and who currently serves as distinguished engineer for the company. Tokyo, Japan, October 28, 2021 ― Renesas Electronics Corporation, a supplier of advanced semiconductor solutions, announced it has entered into a definitive agreement with Celeno Communications, a provider of smart Wi-Fi solutions, for Renesas to acquire Celeno in an all-cash transaction. The deal values Celeno at approximately US$315 million (€269.87 million or approximately 35.9 billion yen at an exchange rate of 114 yen to the dollar), assuming certain milestone payments are made as detailed in the agreement.

Sigfox’s CEO, Jeremy Prince says small can be beautiful; you don’t need to build a motorway to ride a bicycle. His company has invested €300 million in a decade rolling out a 72-country network, but in telco network terms that’s loose change. The market has matured since 2010, says Sigfox’s deputy CEO, Franck Siegel. They tell Jeremy Cowan and the Trending Tech podcast they’ve seen a “huge ramp up” in the number of Sigfox connected devices from 2 million in 2017 to 18 million now. Customers no longer ask for proofs of concept, they know it works. The market potential is huge, says Prince. “The analysts will be wrong again, but this time it will be bigger than they predict.”
