Iridium Communications Inc., announced that Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group (XCMG), will deploy Iridium IoT (internet of things) services on its global fleet of heavy equipment, starting with excavators and expanding to loaders and crane trucks as needed. XCMG will utilise Iridium’s global network to maintain critical connectivity with their heavy equipment in main locations including Australia, Southeast Asia, Latin America, Africa, and Central Asia. GigNet has completed a fibre-optic broadband network that stretches from Costa Mujeres, located north of Cancun, through hotel zone in Tulum. As part of this achievement, advanced broadband connectivity solutions were provided, including a sponsored public Wi-Fi zone. This was implemented during Alejandro Fernandez concert at Mayakoba in Riviera Maya, Mexico, which took place on August 19th, 2023.

Hytera Communications has won bid for the 2023-2024 Sinopec Group’s industrial two-way radio equipment procurement in August 2023. Hytera is the sole winner of bid and the scope of procurement encompasses a diverse range of products, including infrastructure of TETRA (terrestrial trunked radio), PDT (photodynamic therapy), and PoC (proof of concept), as well as intrinsically safe two-way radios and body-worn cameras (BWC). NTT DATA, announced that it has partnered with North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) to implement smart traffic solution to mitigate wrong way driving incidents. Comcast and Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) have announced launch of new Digital Navigator programme. This will utilise trained students to get more Baltimore-area residents including CCBC students connected to the Internet at home, while also teaching digital literacy skills and how to use devices. The programme is supported by a $150,000 (€139792.50) grant from Comcast that will be used to hire and train nearly a dozen CCBC students. (more…)
