Particle M635e achieves Skylo certification for satellite IoT connectivity

Particle by Digi, a division of Digi International, has announced that Particle M635e has achieved Skylo certification, giving IoT developers and enterprises a validated path to extend connected IoT solutions beyond the reach of terrestrial cellular networks.
The device combines Skylo’s satellite-based Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) with global LTE-M cellular, dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connectivity. Cellular connectivity provides low-latency, high-throughput communication for routine data transmission, over-the-air firmware updates and real-time fleet management. When devices move beyond cellular range, the M635e automatically falls back to satellite, ensuring mission-critical alerts, sensor data and status updates reach the cloud without interruption. Together, cellular and satellite connectivity eliminate dead zones, reduce the risk of data loss in remote deployments and give operators consistent visibility across their entire fleet, whether the assets are in a city, a farm or the open road.
Skylo certification confirms that a device, module or platform has been tested and validated for interoperability with Skylo’s standards-based NTN service. By expanding the ecosystem of certified devices, developers, OEMs, carriers and enterprise customers build and deploy NTN services with greater consistency and improved user experiences.

Operating on the Particle platform, the M635e can help compress the timeline from development to market. With Skylo certification completed, customers building on it have a validated connectivity platform that has been tested for interoperability with Skylo’s NTN service. Developers can prototype with a Particle Muon single-board computer and move toward production with confidence that compliance, carrier acceptance and NTN interoperability have already been verified. This pre-certified path reduces development cycles, lowers certification costs and eliminates a source of launch risk, helping teams bring connected products to market faster. OEMs integrating the Particle M635e and the supplied antenna can also apply for their own Skylo Certification, typically at no cost, through a product-equivalency process.
