Smart Meter receives SOC 2 certification for patient data security measures
Smart Meter has received SOC 2 certification. The certification was granted by Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (AICPA) following an independent evaluation conducted by Schellman & Company. The evaluation focused on Smart Meter’s data controls and security protocols.
Engaging an independent auditor to examine and report on Smart Meter’s controls provides Smart Meter the ability to understand how to meet the needs of its partners and provides an objective evaluation of controls that address operations and compliance. Smart Meter has private data network for RPM (remote patient monitoring) in United States.
“By undergoing this independent review of our controls, Smart Meter has proven that its partner and patient data are always secure with our network,” says Smart Meter CEO Casey Pittock. “Gaining this certification is noteworthy, but we will continue to improve our robust security protocols since cybersecurity is an ongoing battle.”
The SOC 2 audit included the review of risk assessment, procedures and communications systems and ongoing monitoring. This review of Smart Meter’s data security protocols reaffirms that we are protecting customer data from unauthorised access and theft and that doing so is a priority for Smart Meter.
“Our partners, providers, and patients have asked for evidence that Smart Meter’s data controls are trustworthy,” says Smart Meter’s chief marketing officer Bill Bassett. “With an expanding network of vendor-customer relationships in the health tech sector and the importance of data security in these relationships, having a SOC 2 certification displays a badge of trust to all of Smart Meter’s partners.”
