u-blox, a global provider of wireless and positioning modules and chips, was one of the main sponsors of the GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) Summer School held at Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology (TUMSAT) on August 1-6.

Organised by the Faculty of Marine Technology of the Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology and co-organised by the School of Positioning, Navigation and Timing of Japan, the one-week event brought together 40 students and young professionals specialised in GNSS technology, coming from 15 countries. Top GNSS professors were invited from across the globe to lecture participants on the latest developments of GNSS technology.

“We were delighted to have u-blox participate in our GNSS Summer School and provide high performance products,“ explained Dr. Akio Yasuda, Professor Emeritus of TUMSAT. “The school is designed to provide top-class education to young professionals in the field of GNSS technology, where u-blox is a world leader.“

“We are convinced that our support for this event will strengthen ties between u-blox and Japanese universities and industries. We are very proud to be invited to co-sponsor this event,“ said Daniel Ammann, u-blox co-founder and executive director, Positioning Products. “We see a lot of opportunities for further business and educational collaboration in mass-market high precision applications in Japan.“
