The Pangea IoT Workshop, a platform that aims to explain how the Internet of Things (IoT) works in an accessible manner, has been launched.

For its first project, the Pi-GEA Project’s operations director, Chris Romeika combines Pangea M2M cellular connectivity with a Raspberry Pi computer and experiments with sensors and data in order to showcase the business applications of IoT.

Romeika said: ‘Within the Channel, there is a heavy focus on the transmission of data, making it easy to forget the actual physical devices that house and enable our solutions.

The point of this project will be to put the spotlight on this physical aspect, in order to deconstruct our connected world and explore the building blocks of what goes into the term “IoT”.’

Romeika will be adding sensors to the device on a monthly basis and logging his progress. Eventually, the device will be able to trigger actions based on the data input from the sensors.
