System Architecture

Friendly's Smart Home management solution is an open and scalable platform designed to manage and monitor millions of households. The platform includes three main layers:

  • Mediation Layer (Southbound Interfaces) - Supporting multiple management and messaging protocols for communicating with the Home Gateway; supported protocols include TR-069, Web Services, OMA-DM, MQTT, REST and Json. The Home Gateway is the main concentrator hub for communicating with in-house devices and sensors.
  • Business Logic Layer - Includes a Big Data Analytics module, which collects stores and analyzes huge amounts of performance data and KPIs. Big Data analysis provides information about trends, performance and loads, and the data is viewed using a dynamic dashboard; and a Management Console, which has profile, template and campaign management capabilities and performs operations on groups of devices
  • Presentation Layer - Provides the Home Portal, a web-based interface accessible from any tablet, laptop or desktop; and a mobile app for smart phones. A northbound interface (Web Services XML/SOAP) is available for integration with external systems. The presentation layer also includes a Call Center Portal, an intuitive dashboard for quick and efficient call center problem resolution.
