IoT solution with remote device control and monitoring is aimed by TeamViewer at VARs, system integrators, OEMs

TeamViewer®, a global software provider for IoT, connectivity, monitoring, support and collaboration, announced the release of a new dedicated IoT solution: TeamViewer IoT. The new product combines TeamViewer’s remote access and control capabilities with monitoring functionalities.Key differentiators of TeamViewer IoT are said to include the ability to access and control IoT devices from anywhere in the world.
The new product is claimed to be cost-effective and easy to deploy, delivering immediate benefits for its users. TeamViewer IoT comes with support for Raspbian, but will be portable to other Linux distributions. Support for additional IoT platforms will also be integrated. TeamViewer IoT is aimed at value added resellers, system integrators, original equipment manufacturers, and technology enthusiasts.
Created with security at its core, the new solution comes with end to end encryption, two factor authentication and TeamViewer’s Easy Access to meet the needs of traditional as well as up-and-coming industries. TeamViewer IoT makes devices IoT ready in a matter of minutes, and supplies a powerful means to monitor, access, and control them. All of which are key success factors in the Industry 4.0.
With a TeamViewer account, users can quickly set up the web-based dashboard and install the software on a Raspberry Pi. Furthermore, TeamViewer provides an SDK plus an MQTT (Message Queue Telemetry Transport) API so users can collect the data they need and include it in their dashboard.
This dashboard is extremely flexible, provides users with the possibility to tailor their widgets according to their needs, and provides means to trigger an alert when a critical metrics threshold is crossed. Additionally, users may integrate the TeamViewer IoT data – by means of a Cloud REST (Representational State Transfer) API – in a different system if they need to do so.
TeamViewer IoT enables business benefits in a variety of industries and use cases. In industrial settings, TeamViewer IoT allows production managers and equipment suppliers to increase machine productivity, monitor operational efficiency and carry out preventive maintenance from anywhere in the world.
Additionally, building owners and operators can use TeamViewer IoT in conjunction with Smart Building technologies to monitor and optimise energy usage, space usage and long-term capacity planning.
TeamViewer’s dedicated IoT product is aimed at:
- Value added resellers & system integrators – These organisations may bundle TeamViewer’s IoT solution with other applications in order to resell it to their customers and end-users
- Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) – OEMs may produce their own hardware and use TeamViewer’s solution to provide remote access and monitoring for it
- Direct TeamViewer customers – This group includes small businesses or technology enthusiasts, who may come up with all sorts of nifty use cases
